The University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU), the Alma Mater Viridis, perceives itself as a teaching and research center for renewable resources, which are necessary for human life. Our Institute - IHG
The Institute of Hydrobiology and Aquatic Ecosystem Management (IHG) is located in the 18th district of Vienna, close to the other main buildings of the university's "Türkenschanze" location.
Key areas of research at IHG deal with the functions, processes, and structures of aquatic ecosystems and their environment. Research and training focus on hydro-morphological dynamics, nutrient cycles, food chains, habitat demands, biotic interactions, etc. Further working fields include aquaculture and fisheries.
