Vienna is one of the most beautiful historical capitals along the Danube and it is located in the heart of Europe at the gate to the middle and lower reaches of the Danube River. With Vienna being the link between Western and Eastern Europe, the EU countries, former countries of the Eastern Block and the Black Sea area of the near East, this city represents an ideal focal point like no other, when it comes to the past development and the future perspective for a joint Europe. As this conference is a pan European approach, drawing the attention on the urgency of restoration measures for the sturgeons and its habitats all over Europe, the Danube is the representative for this necessity. Similarily, the city as a truly European capital represents the virtues of all European countries and stands as their representative during this conference.
